DCA releases global RFI seeking “Festive Innovation” solutions

The Department of Christmas Affairs (DCA) has today issued a Request for Information (RFI) on Festive Innovation, calling on organisations worldwide to help address the annual operational challenges of Christmas — including decoration-related incidents, Naughty or Nice system congestion, and the global rise in “panic wrapping” behaviour.

A DCA spokesperson said the Department is hoping to identify “fresh ideas that will modernise global festive operations, ideally before the December workload reaches catastrophic levels.”

“Every year, we deal with the same pressures: supply chain instability, uncontrolled tinsel usage, and last-minute attempts by adults to negotiate their way off the Naughty List,” the spokesperson said.

“We’re inviting the world to propose solutions — technological, behavioural, magical — at this point we’re open to all possibilities.”

The Department confirmed that the RFI “creates no commitment whatsoever” and that outcomes may range from taking no action at all, to launching a multi-year procurement, to direct-sourcing a supplier on a Tuesday afternoon because someone found a promising idea in an email they half-skimmed.

Interested organisations are encouraged to review the document and respond before the deadline
